Meet Shomari

Mobile native.
Proven public servant.

Shomari Figures was raised in his grandfather's church in Mobile and educated in Alabama through law school. His parents — the late State Senator Michael Figures and State Senator Vivian Davis Figures — built their lives around public service, and passed that calling on to their son.

From the U.S. Senate to the White House to the Justice Department, where he served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Attorney General, Shomari has spent his career fighting for fairness. Now he carries that experience home to Alabama's 2nd District.

Experience that delivers.

Shomari didn't come to public service for the title. He came to get things done — and he has the record to prove it.

On the issues

The platform. The fight.

Four priorities built around what families across Alabama's 2nd District actually need.

i.

Access to Healthcare

Alabama is one of the few states without Medicaid expansion — ranking among the lowest for life expectancy and highest for maternal mortality.
  • Expand healthcare networks and rural community health centers
  • Address maternal-health disparities for Black mothers and infants
  • Protect reproductive rights and patient decision-making
ii.

Investing in Education

Alabama's teachers are among the lowest-paid in the nation, and too many students are left behind in reading and math.
  • Raise pay for Alabama teachers
  • Secure federal funding to modernize our schools
  • Expand access to counselors and mental-health professionals
iii.

Jobs & Opportunity

Building an inclusive, resilient Alabama economy that works for everyone.
  • Raise wages and protect the right to organize
  • Support small businesses and workforce development
  • Expand broadband across rural Alabama
iv.

Safer, Stronger Communities

Alabama has the nation's 4th-highest rate of gun violence — 1,149 gun deaths a year.
  • Advance a holistic approach to gun violence
  • Pursue sensible criminal-justice and prison reform
  • Protect and expand the right to vote
